Fulham are pleased to announce that Steve Kean has been appointed as the Club's new Youth Academy Director.

Steve Keen Fulham's new Youth Academy Director

As a player, Kean played for Celtic for 5 years before moving on to play in Portugal for a further 5 years. Upon returning to England he briefly played for Reading until his retirement.

Starting his coaching career at Reading with their under-14 squad, he rose through the ranks to become their Academy’s Technical Director.

Having admittedly benefited from the technically advanced continental training methods during his stay in Portugal, Kean recognises the importance of technical ability;

"I’ll be trying to improve the boys on a daily basis so that they can play with their head up and with two feet. I’ve spoken to Jean and Christian before, and their philosophy on the game is not different from mine.

"I’m going to sit down with Jean and Christian over the next few days and decide on the coaching programme that’s going to be delivered from the 8-year-olds up to under-19’s"

The Club would like to welcome Steve on board and wish him every success in his new career.
