Referee James Linington can claim that every match in the EFL is an overseas appointment, requiring the short hop over from his home on the Isle of Wight.
He is a very experienced referee having refereed in the EFL for 9 seasons and this season he has joined the new elite group of full-time referees to officiate Sky Bet Championship matches, titled as Select Group 2
Mr Linington last reffed Fulham in a home 2-2 draw with Norwich. He yellow carded 7 players four from Fulham, Aluko (39,f), Malone (40,f), Parker (41,d) and Johansen (87,arg)
In the 2015/16 season Mr Linington reffed Fulham against Charlton in a 2-2 away draw in October 2015. He handed out a yellow card to Christensen for a foul.
Linington last reffed Reading in a 1-0 home win against Huddersfield in September this year. He yellow carded 7 players, 5 from the visitors and also sent off a visiting player for a second yellow in the 26th minute.
Last season he refed 26 games and dished out 74 yellows and 4 reds, so 2.8 yellows per game. He was below the League average of 3.1 yellows per game and was below average for red cards.
This season he has reffed 17 games so far issuing 88 yellows, a huge increase to 5.2 yellow cards per game, and 1 red. He has dished out 8 yellows in three games and 7 yellows in four games. Phew one angry Ref.
