Referee Jeremy Simpson, 42 years old, made his senior debut as a referee in the 2008/09 season, taking charge of what was then a Blue Square Premier fixture between York and Stevenage. He was appointed to the EFL Referees List in 2012/13 and since then he has refereed over 100 matches.
After refing games in the third and fourth tier he started in the Championship and was recruited into Select Group 2 – a group of officials, in 2016, who will operate in the Football League Championship on full time contracts.
Mr Simpson last reffed Fulham in April last season in the 4-2 defeat at Derby when he yellow carded one Derby player and three Fulham players, Piazon (45+2,sim), McDonald (87,f), Aluko (90,f) .
At the beginning of last season Ref Simpson also bossed Fulham when we drew 2-2 at home to Cardiff. He booked Madl for a foul and three visiting players.
Bristol City last had the pleasure of Mr Simpson's company back in April 2016 when he
refed their 2-1 home win over QPR He booked one Bristol City player and four QPR players.
Last season he refed 40 games and dished out 166 yellows, an above average 4.2 yellows per game, and an above average 6 reds.
This season so far he has refed 31 games and dished out 130 yellows, an above
average 4.2 yellows per game and 5 reds.
Mr Simpson's busiest game last season was Reading's 2-1 home win over Ipswich,
in September, when he booked five home players and four visiting players. All
three goals came from penalties!! This season so far it is the Preston 1-0 win over QPR when he issued five yellows and sent off two QPR players.
