Referee Kevin Friend started refereeing at the age of 14 in his home county of Leicestershire.
He was promoted to the National List of Referees in 2003, and later to the Select Group of Referees ahead of the 2009-10 season. His first Premier League fixture was in September 2009:
a 2-1 victory for Wolves over Fulham.
Ref Friend last bossed a Fulham game in August of this season when Fulham beat Exeter 2-0 in the League Cup, both scored by Kamara. He booked three players all Exeter players.
Cardiff last had the pleasure of Mr Friend company back in August this season iwhen they were beaten 2-0 away at Bournemouth.
Mr Friend booked one player from each team.
Last season he reffed 33 games, dished out 66 yellows, so an unsually low average of 2 yellows per game and a well below average 1 red.
His busiest game in recent times was the game between Liverpool and Chelsea in the League Cup in September this season when he yellow carded five Liverpool players and three from Chelsea.
