Palmeiras have been chasing Fulham’s Andreas Pereira throughout the winter market, but the Premier League side have refused to give in so far.

Four days ago, ESPN stated Palmeiras legal manager Leonardo Holanda will make a final push to sign the midfielder during a trip to England.

UOL state Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has ‘thrown in the towel’ in pursuit of the Fulham star.

She revealed the negotiations with Marco Silva’s side didn’t progress and Palmeiras are unlikely to sign the 29-year-old.

“It doesn’t change [Palmeiras’ interest]. But I’m not considering Andreas anymore. There were indeed conversations with the player, with the English club, but they didn’t prosper,” she told TNT Sports.

The president hasn’t closed the door but is no longer optimistic of securing a deal for the former Manchester United man.

“We are waiting. We will work with what we have, I believe they were excellent hires. The doors are not closed, but we are working with what we have already contracted and with viable things. There is no news for now,” Leila Pereira explained.

Brazilian Journalist André Hernan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state Palmeiras’ chances of securing Andreas’ services are ‘diminishing’. He’s basing this on the president’s comments.

The midfielder’s contract lasts until 2026, with an option for another year, but the Premier League side want to offer him an extension. Hernan claims Fulham have made the first renewal offer, but the Brazil international has turned it down.

Andreas isn’t clear about his long-term future and could wait to receive offers from other European clubs late in this window. This indicates Fulham won’t be able to make progress for his renewal until the winter market closes.
