Referee Tony Harrington began refereeing in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance at the age of 14 years old, having completed the basic referee course whilst at school as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award.
After 4 years as an EFL Assistant Referee and 4 years as a National League Referee Tony was appointed to the EFL referee list in 2012/13 and has now refereed over 100 EFL matches. He is now part of the new elite Select Group 2 of full-time referees to officiate at Sky Bet Championship matches.
Mr Harrington last reffed Fulham in September of this season when we were beaten 1-0 at home by Birmingham. Ref Harrington booked 5 players two were from Fulham one of which, Madl, he booked twice and therefore sent off in the 44th minute.
His most recent previous visit was in September 2015 when we beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1. Ref Harrington had a busy day yellow carding four Blackburn players and Jamie O'Hara of Fulham.
Harrington last reffed Burton in their 2-1 home win against Gillingham in April last year booking three players one from Burton.
Last season he refed 30 games and dished out 72 yellows and 3 reds, so a below average 2.4 yellows per game.
So far this season he has refed 22 games dishing out 90 yellows, so now an above average 4.1 yellows per game, and 2 reds. His busiest game this season was Reading v Sheff Wed, which Reading won 2-1, when he booked 9 players, 6 of them from Sheff wed.
