Referee Stuart Attwell, 36 years old, made history as the youngest Premier League referee at 25 years old when he took charge of Blackburn and Hull in August 2008.
Ref Attwell graduated from Staffordshire University in 2004. Refereeing had been a lifelong ambition for him, according to his father. Attwell worked his way up from local games to non-League football, then to the West Midlands League and the Football League.
He was promoted to the Select Group of referees for the 2016/17 season following consistent refereeing displays since being demoted as a National List official in 2012.
Ref Attwell became infamous for, amongst other controversial decisions, the ghost goal for Reading at Watford in 2008 when the ball clearly went wide of the post. He was suspended from the Premier League for two years
He last reffed Fulham in May 2018 during the 3-1 away defeat at Birmingham in the last game of the season, it sent Fulham into the Playoffs. He booked two players from Birmingham and Kamara (47,f), Odoi (49,f), McDonald (70,f) of Fulham.
Prior to this Mr Attwell refed Fulham in May 2017 during the1-1 home draw with ruffians Reading in the first leg of the playoffs. He booked two players from each team, Malone (54,d), McDonald (56,f) for Fulham, and sent off a Reading player in the 80th minute.
Mr Attwell last refed Man City back in February 2016, City won 1-0 away at Sunderland and yellow carded four City players and one Sunderland player.
Last season he refed 29 games and dished out 99 yellows and 3 reds so some 3.4 yellows per game on average.
His busiest game recently was the Middlesbrough v Wolves clash, in March of this year, which Wolves won 2-1. Ref Attwell booked three Boro players and five Wolves players. He then went on to give second yellow reds to two Wolves players.
