Wiltshire FA official referee Simon Hooper began his Football League career as an assistant referee in 2006/07. At the same time he was a referee in non-league football. Hooper was promoted as a Football League referee the following season and at the start of the 2016/17 season he was promoted to the full time Referee group Select Group 2.
Mr Hooper last reffed a Fulham game on Boxing Day, this season, when Fulham beat Cardiff 4-2 at Cardiff City Stadium. He booked five players four of them from Fulham despite the foul count being 17 for Cardiff and 11 for Fulham.
Earlier in this season he refed Fulham in the 1-1 away draw at Reading when he yellow carded two Reading players, red carded Kalas in the first minute of the game for a last-man foul and finished up yellow carding Kamara for a foul in the 94th minute.
Last season Ref Hooper bossed the Preston game at Craven Cottage in March of 2017, Fulham won 3-1, Mr Hooper yellow carded two Preston players.
He had also refed Fulham's opening game of the season when Fulham beat favourites Newcastle 1-0. Mr Hooper booked four players, one from Fulham, defender Denis Odoi for a foul in the 10th minute.
In the 15/16 season Mr Hooper refed three Fulham games, 2-2 draw away against Reading, the 4-1 home win against Rotherham and our 3-2 away defeat at Sheff Wed. In all he booked one opposition player and six Fulham players.
Mr Hooper has refed Preston twice this season, in November, when they drew 0-0 at home to Bolton and in February when they drew 1-1 away at Brentford.
Last season he refed 43 games and dished out 149 yellows, an average 3.5 yellows per game, and a below average 3 reds. So far this season Mr Hooper has refed 33 games and dished out 107 yellow cards, an average of 3.2 a game, and 4 reds.
His busiest games this season were in the Midlands derby between Birmingham and Wolves when he booked three Birmingham players, upgrading one of them to a red for a second yeliow and Brentford versus Preston when he booked three Preston players upgrading one Preston yellow to a red for a second yellow.
