Referee Lee Mason started refereeing when he was 17 years old in the Bolton Boys' Federation League. He became a Football League referee in 2002 and joined the Premier League list of Select Group Referees in 2006.

Mr Mason has been involved in a number of controversial decisions including one involving Fulham.

In 2009 he was handed a one-week demotion to the role of fourth official after his handling of a match between Fulham and Liverpool in which he sent off Liverpool players Jamie Carragher and Philipp Degen; Fulham ultimately won the fixture 3–1. As a point of interest one week later 10 man Fulham were robbed of victory in Rome, playing in the Europa Cup.

Fulham last had the pleasure of Mr Mason's company back in August 2014 when we were beaten 1-0 at home by Millwall. He booked three players, all from Fulham, Hoogland, Bodurov, Stafylidis.

Mr Mason last reffed QPR in their 3-1 away defeat at Crystal Palace in March 2015. He booked four players, three from QPR.

Last season he reffed 34 games and dished out 96 yellows and 3 reds, so a below average 2.8 yellows per game.
