52-year-old ref Roger East started refereeing after a ref said to him in a game ‘you have a lot to say for yourself, you should be a referee’. He progressed through the refereeing ranks via two years in the Wessex league, six years in the Southern League and then National League level, rising to the National List as an assistant in 2000.
He has been on the National list since 2006 and after impressing during the 2012/13 season he earned a permanent spot in the Select Group of officials from the 2013/14 season. Ref East has now accumulated over 50 Premier League matches as a referee.
The last time Mr East refed a Fulham game was during the 2013/2014 season in the Premiership. He refed us at home against Stoke in October which Fulham won 1-0. Mr East did not have a great game and booked Amorebieta (28, f), Richardson (74,ub - Arguing with Walters), Senderos (90, tw) and two Stoke players
He last refed a Derby game earlier this season in September when they drew 1-1 with Birmingham. He yellow carded two players, one from each side.
Last season he refed 33 games and dished out 140 yellows and 5 reds, so an above average 4.2 yellows per game.
So far this season he has dished out 92 yellows and 3 reds in 28 games, so a reduced average of 3.3 yellows a game.
His busiest game so far this season was was the 2-2 draw between QPR and Millwall when he yellow carded seven players, two from QPR and five from Millwall, and also sent off a Millwall player in the 41st minute.
