Referee Paul Tierney was promoted to the Select Group of Referees ahead of the 2015/16 season after a successful seven years on the National List.
The Lancashire FA official became a member of the National Group of Referees ahead of the 2009/10 campaign, with Macclesfield Town against Notts County on the opening weekend of the League Two season being the first fixture he refereed.
Ref Tierney refed Fulham once last season, the 4-1 FA Cup home win against Hull. He booked five players, three from Fulham McDonald (36,f), Johansen (74,f) and Kalas (86,f).
In the previous season Mr Tierney refed Fulham in a
1-1 draw away at Ipswich in the April when he booked Scott Parker late on for a foul and earlier in the same season the
1-0 home defeat by Hull when he yellow carded Dan Burn and 3 Hull players. This was Slavisa Jokanovic's first game in charge.
The last time Ref Tierney refed an Ipswich game was in their 1-1 home draw against Fulham, mentioned above, in
April 2016. He booked a player from each team.
Last Season Ref Tierney reffed 32 games dishing out 110 yellows, an average 3.4 cards a game, and 5 reds.
His busiest game last season was the Football League Trophy 0-0 draw between
Swindon and Oxford with 7 yellows and one red. Four of the yellows and the red card went to the visitors.
