Referee Paul Tierney was promoted to the Select Group of Referees ahead of the 2015/16 season after a successful seven years on the National List.
The Lancashire FA official became a member of the National Group of Referees ahead of the 2009/10 campaign, with Macclesfield Town against Notts County on the opening weekend of the League Two season being the first fixture he refereed.
Ref Tierney last bossed Fulham earlier this season, 18/19, when we lost 5-1 to Arsenal at The Cottage. Two Fulham players were booked, Vietto (57,f) and Schurrle (70,f).
Last season, 17/18, he refed Fulham twice, in November the 1-0 home win over Millwall in November, two Millwall players were booked and in August the 2-0 win at Ipswich he had a quiet game issuing just one yellow card.
The last time Ref Tierney refed a Liverpool game was in their 3-0 home win against Southampton in the Premiership back in September this year. Two yellow cards were shown both to Southampton players
Last season Ref Tierney reffed 32 games dishing out 81 yellows, a well below average of 2.5 cards a game, and NO red cards.
His busiest game recently was the game, last weend, between Bournemouth and Man Utd when he booked seven players four from Bournemouth and three from Man Utd.
