Referee Dean Whitestone had been a goalkeeper in his playing days but changed direction to follow his father, Tony, a local referee.
He progressed through the lower leagues joined the League list as an assistant referee in 2001 and succeeded in getting promoted to referee level in 2006.
He last reffed Fulham in the 2-3 home defeat by Burnley in March 2016. He booked three players, one from Fulham Madl (f) 85.
His only other game in that season was in the 3-0 home league victory over Sheff Utd in Aug 2015. There were no bookings for Fulham but he booked two United players and sent off another two in the 88th and 90th minutes!!
Mr Whitestone last reffed Bristol Rovers in February 2017 when they drew 1-1 away at Port Vale and he booked 5 players, three being Rover playes.
Last season he refed 43 games and dished out 119 yellows, just 2.8 yellows per game, and 3 reds.
