Fulham were forced to settle for a second stalemate against Brighton this season at the Amex Stadium.

The hosts were on top for large parts with the visitors almost creating the ultimate smash-and-grab scenario with the last kick of the game.

Scott Parker reverted back to the 11 that had impressed greatly in the previous league outings. Just three of the starting squad kept their place after the disappointing defeat to Burnley in the FA Cup.

Fulham enjoyed prolonged spells of possession to dictate proceedings early on. Ola Aina strode onto a loose ball to strike first time which narrowly cleared the crossbar.

Brighton looked compact in defence and looked to spring on the counter. The pace of Neal Maupay broke the Fulham line to serve up a golden chance for Leandro Trossard. Alphonse Areola to the rescue with his feet.

The chance moved the hosts onto the front foot and could’ve been a couple ahead through Lewis Dunk’s header and Alexis Mac Allister’s blocked shot.

Yves Bissouma left a strong challenge on Ivan Cavaleiro that merited the first booking of the evening approaching the half hour mark. The visitors recovered somewhat to create some chances of their own. Bobby De Cordova-Reid popped up at the back post to see his header squirm wide.

Some intense pressure from Ruben Loftus-Cheek high up the pitch freed Cavaleiro to run at Adam Webster. His firmly struck shot whistled wide.

The booking tally was doubled for the hosts as Mac Allister hauled back Frank Anguissa at full tilt. The balance of the game remained firmly in the balance at the interval.

The second half started with an even complexion. De Cordova-Reid’s volley sat up after a lax header. Robert Sanchez still yet to be tested. The Seagulls did begin to commit bodies forward which left spaces for Cavaleiro and Loftus-Cheek.

Harrison Reed’s birthday shift was cut short on 65 minutes as Mario Lemina was introduced at the base of midfield. Reed with few opportunities left to stay on the pitch after already being cautioned.

A quick free kick nearly opened the scoring. Fulham’s defence switched off and a clever flick put Maupay through only to fire over the best chance of the game. Parker recognised his side were struggling to get a foot hold in the game and introduced Aleksandar Mitrovic and Joe Bryan to add a focal point.

The hosts continued to press for a winner with Maupay wasting a couple of chances.

Fulham waited until stoppage time to get their best chance. Loftus-Cheek latched onto a Bryan cross to see Dunk slide the ball off the line. A point didn’t suit either side.
