Fulham striker Andrejs Stolcers has been named by Latvia coach Aleksandrs Starkovs
in his squad for the friendly with Kazakhstan
next Wednesday.
Since Andrejs' first appearance for his country in October 1996 he has gained
57 caps has scored 7 goals.
The 27-year-old has barely featured for The Cottagers this season, making
just four appearances as a substitute, and the chance of a game with his
international team-mates will come as a welcome break for the former Shakhtar
Donetsk man.
The Latvia coach has named just one new face, Dinaburg defender Dmitrijs
Nalivaiko, who is handed his international chance while Premiership trio Andrejs Stolcers, Igor Stepanovs and Marian Pahars are among eight foreign-based players in the
squad.
The match is the first home friendly Latvia have played outside Riga
in ten years and also marks a significant time in the history of Kazakh
football.
The former Soviet republic is in the process of trying to leave the Asian
federation to join Uefa, and will find out if its application has been
successful at a Uefa congress later this month.
