Fulham skipper Andy Melville was simply pleased to halt a mini-slump to record a first win of the year.
Fulham struggled to see off mid-table Norwich and Melville, standing in at the press conference for Jean Tigana, said: "The result was more important than the
performance. After two successive defeats we just had to win.
"We were not at our best and we had to fight hard but we got there. Norwich
work hard and close you down and they'll be disappointed to go away with
nothing."
They were indeed, as Canaries manager Nigel Worthington emphasised.
"We picked up a few knocks today, but I was very pleased with the
effort and overall we did very well," he said.
"Fulham had to say that they had had a game on their hands against a
committed side. Football is a cruel game - no neutral could deny us a goal.
"If we continue like today we'll win more than we'll lose. There was not much
we could do about Saha's goal. He's a quality player and he made it out of
nothing," mused Worthington.
