Fulham centre-back Brede Hangeland was delighted to score his first ever double in Sunday's win over Birmingham.

The Norway international netted both goals to seal a 2-0 victory at St Andrews, taking his individual tally in the Premier League this season to six.

The triumph keeps the Cottagers firmly on course for a top-10 finish, and 29-year-old Hangeland was thrilled to be the force behind it.

"I am very pleased to have scored two goals," the defender told Stavanger Aftenblad. "That doesn't happen every day.

"We played a good match and fully deserved the win."

After a rocky start to the season, a strong run of form in the second half of the campaign has seen Fulham turn things around.

Hangeland feels finishing in the top half of the table would be a fitting way to crown what has been an impressive comeback.

"We have had a good second half to the season," he added. "If we do manage to finish in the top 10, it has been a solid display by the side."
