Fulham striker Brian McBride is targeting an improvement "from front to back" in the last four games of the season to save the club from relegation.

The Cottagers face Blackburn at home on Saturday looking to increase their advantage on the bottom three and edge towards safety after a run of nine games without a win which has left them in deep trouble.

It also led to Chris Coleman leaving the club and Lawrie Sanchez taking over on a caretaker basis, but the new boss could not inspire victory against Reading in his first match in charge.

"I think that for large parts of the game we did a good job but we needed to score the first goal," said McBride. "It's part of the reason why we are in this, we need to score more goals. Then we would be in a better position.

"I think the one thing that we have is that we do have a good group of players that can get us into a much better position. "But we have got to do it together and that is starting from front to back, that means us scoring the first goal and I am a large part of that.

"It's still very much in our hands. But if we talk about it, we have got to start doing it on the field."

While McBride is concentrating on getting Fulham firing in attack, full-back Liam Rosenior is looking for the defence to play more as a unit.

"We conceded seven goals in the two games before Reading and that's not right," Rosenior said. "Maybe we have to look at not just individuals, but the team and try to concede less goals because a clean sheet guarantees at least a point."
