Fabio Capello has named Bobby Zamora as one of England's potential stars for the future despite the uncapped Fulham striker turning 30 in January.

The under-fire England boss named nine players who did not figure at the World Cup, who he thinks could help turn around the national team's fortunes.

Zamora was one of the players mentioned by Capello during a media grilling as was the injury prone Owen Hargreaves who has started just two games for Manchester United in the last two season.

Arsenal youngsters Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere were also named along with their club team-mate Theo Walcott who was the shock omission from Capello's 23-man squad for South Africa.

Tottenham's Matthew Dawson was name-checked, despite being passed over for selection behind Jamie Carragher and Matthew Upson at the World Cup, while Manchester City's Adam Johnson and Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor were also cited.

"Adam Johnson is one. Another is Kieran Gibbs, the Arsenal left-back. Also Dawson. He is not young but he is back. Also we have Agbonlahor and Zamora. Another player I hope will be fit is Hargreaves," said Capello.

"Walcott - I hope he can play and recovers and his back and shoulder will be OK. Wilshere is another interesting player, another good player who we are looking for."

England start their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign with matches against Bulgaria and Switzerland in September but before then they have a friendly match with Hungary at Wembley on August 11.
