Fulham Chairman Al Fayed would like Jean Tigana to extend his contract |
Fulham Chairman Mohamed Al Fayed has insisted he wants to retain the services of French manager Jean Tigana.
The former French international's future with the West London club has been shrouded in doubt as he has refused to sign a new contract.
Tigana's current contract with The Cottagers expires this summer, and the Frenchman has hinted that he will turn his back on the club unless Fayed reveals his plans for the future.
However, the Egyptian supremo has now spoken out to declare his delight at the job Tigana is doing, and to confirm that he wants the former Monaco coach to extend his stay.
"I am happy with what the manager is doing," said Fayed.
"I'd be happy if he signed next week. It's up to him.
"I went into the dressing room to congratulate the players after the win against West Brom on Wednesday.
"Now we can look forward to beating Burnley and getting to the FA Cup quarter finals."
