Chris Coleman has admitted he was devastated by his sacking by Fulham, but bears the club no ill will and is determined to return to top-level management.

The Welshman had been at the club for a decade as a player, coach and manager, but his tenure came to an end earlier this month following a poor run.

Coleman admits his departure came as a bolt from the blue, but he does not harbour a grudge and is looking for the Cottagers to avoid the drop.

"I am devastated to be honest," Coleman said. "I had been at the club 10 years and I never really saw it coming, but they have got their decisions to make and their reasons and I am devastated.

"Being somewhere for 10 years I know a lot of people at Fulham and I would be devastated if they went out of the league.

"I don't want to see them go, I know the players in the dressing room and they are strong guys and that is what will see them through."

Coleman is set to take some time out before making a return to management.

"I will spend a little bit more time with my four children, I will spend some quality time with them," he added.

"I will enjoy a little break to make sure that when I do come back the batteries are recharged."
