Fulham could face having to pay the wages
of a player who has never put a foot inside Craven Cottage
Bradford City keeper Matt Clarke was due to join the Cottagers on a month's
loan with a view to a permanent deal.
However, the 27-year-old transfer-listed goalkeeper has decided against
the move - but there is a sting in the tail.
The Premiership newcomers registered Clarke as their loan player and technically
are liable to pay his wages until August 8.
"It seems to be a mis-communication between the agent and his player,"
commented Fulham managing-director Michael Fiddy.
"The agent has inadvertently made a mistake and misrepresented his
player's views.
"But we understand that he acted in his player's best interests."
The chance to join Fulham has seen a u-turn from Clarke who believes he
shouldn't have to prove himself with another loan deal.
