MIDDLE-AGED footballers were stunned when
a pounds 5 million Premiership star joined in their five-a-side kickabout.
Fulham midfielder Lee Clark, 28, dazzled the other players with his close
control and passing, but also took a turn in goal to give their opponents
a chance.
But the pounds 20,000-a-week player's stint at the Newburn leisure centre
in his home town of Newcastle-upon-Tyne could earn him a rocket from club
bosses for risking injury.
Centre manager Rob Burgess, said: "I think he turned out for a mate
on the team.
"There's always a risk of injury when you play on Astroturf. It's quite
slippy. And it does seem a bit silly playing with 40-year-olds when you're
worth all that money.
A Fulham official said the club was trying to contact Lee but added: "We
believe it was just a non-competitive game."
