Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey has urged his Fulham team-mates to return to winning ways this weekend against Newcastle.

The Cottagers were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline at Blackburn last time and on Saturday welcome the in-form Magpies to London.

But Newcastle, who are on the verge of signing Papiss Demba Cisse, have lost the likes of Demba Ba and Cheick Tiote to the African Cup of Nations.

Yohan Cabaye is also an injury concern and Dempsey hopes to take advantage of Alan Pardew's potentially weakened squad.

"Every game is a big game and it's always difficult to get results away from home," said the United States international.

"As soon as you do get results on the road, you're flying, but if you don't, it puts a little bit more pressure on you to get the job done at home. Hopefully we can get that done on Saturday.

"We need as many points as we can and hopefully we'll move back up the table if we can get a good result against Newcastle.

"They're a good team and they're doing really well. They've got some players missing and hopefully we can take advantage of that on Saturday."
