Fulham manager Chris Coleman has hailed Brian McBride as one of the best signings in the history of the Premiership.
The 34-year-old is the club's leading scorer this season with 10 goals and has signed a one-year extension to his contract at Craven Cottage taking him up to the end of next season.
Coleman signed the USA international from MLS side Columbus Crew for £700,000 in 2004, and has seen him find the net 34 times in 122 appearances and he will lead the attack when the Cottagers host Newcastle.
The Fulham boss said: "If you look at it pound for pound, you can't buy anyone who attacks the ball like he does and score goals like he does.
"For the amount of money we spent and the service he has given us, it has got to be the best £700,000 that anyone has ever spent.
"He looks after himself when he is not at training, and he rarely misses games. You know what you're getting with Brian."
