Fulham striker Collins John has signed a free transfer deal with Eredivisie side NEC, pending a routine medical.

The youngster was surplus to requirements at Craven Cottage.

22-year-old striker Collins John is on the verge of signing for UEFA cup hopefuls NEC. The forward will undergo a medical exam today and sign a deal with the Nijmegen side afterwards.

John was no longer needed at the London side and was at liberty to negotiate terms with other clubs. He was being linked with a move to Crystal Palace, but they had their doubts about John’s match fitness.

The Liberian-born player, who also has Dutch nationality, started his career at Dutch side Twente and signed for Fulham in the 2003/2004 season. Despite a promising start, he was never able to convince the critics of his qualities.

Fulham farmed the attacker out on loan to Watford and Leicester City, before eventually allowing him to return to the Eredivisie for free.

John hopes to relaunch his career at NEC and reach the level again that made him a Holland international once. He made two international appearances for Holland in his better days.
