Fulham have launched a £4m bid for Newcastle United and Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff, according to reports on Friday.
Duff is eager to quit the Magpies for a return to the Barclays Premier League, despite scoring his side’s point-saving goal against West Bromwich Albion on the opening weekend of the season.
Roy Hodgson’s Fulham are favourites, though the Republic of Ireland midfielder may also be tempted by the idea of linking up again with former Republic manager Mick McCarthy at Wolves.
Duff, 30, cost £5m when he joined Newcastle from Chelsea three years ago.
He has played under five managers in that time and two caretaker managers.
The cash-strapped Magpies, who are desperate to reduce to wage-bill at St James’s Park, are in no position to turn offers down.
