Fulham have, according to Japanese World Cup star Junichi Inamoto, made an offer he could not refuse.
The 22-year-old was one of the stars of the World Cup
finals and scored two goals for Japan as the co-hosts
made the second phase.
Before the finals had started Arsenal
manager Arsene Wenger had already decided to dispense
with the player's services after opting not to take up
the option to sign him permanently from Gamba Osaka
for £4 million.
Inamoto made just four appearances at Highbury last
season, as he failed to make the breakthrough, but now
he is ready to put his North London troubles behind him
with a switch to the West of the capital with Jean
Tigana's Fulham.
"London still appeals to me," Inamoto told Nikkan
Sports.
"I have decided my future, I am going to Fulham,
where they will play me."
Inamoto's decision to join Fulham means
disappointment for Perugia, Atalanta and Feyenoord, who
all harboured hopes of landing the Asian star.
Cottagers chief Tigana will be confident that he can
get the best out of Inamoto, who has already showed in
the World Cup that he has the potential to be a very
good player.
