Steve Marlet |
Former Lyon and Fulham striker Steve Marlet has joined Lorient on a one-year deal after being given a free transfer by Wolfsburg.
The 32-year-old hitman, who scored six times in 26 appearances for France, was released by Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg in the summer, after netting just once in 21 games last campaign.
Marlet had been training with Paris St Germain for the two weeks when he was contacted by Les Merlus, who were looking to inject some pace into their attack.
"As usual I found a club just at the end of the transfer window," said Marlet in L'Equipe.
"I always take my time and never get stressed. I was not worried at all about my career."
Lorient are seventh in the Ligue 1 table after a reasonable start to the season which has seen them lose only once in four matches.
"I saw how they played in their first four matches and they are a solid team, they also take risks," Marlet added.
"Physically I feel fine. I had been training with PSG's reserve team for about two weeks."
Marlet, who should make his debut with Lorient against Le Mans on September 9, won the Coupe de la Ligue in 2001 and the French title in 2002 with Lyon.
