David Stockdale has signed a new long-term contract that keeps him with Fulham until the summer of 2013.

The former Darlington goalkeeper, who has started one Premier League game this season, is currently back-up to established No.1 Mark Schwarzer.

Stockdale is delighted to commit his long-term future to the Craven Cottage outfit, stating it has given him great confidence in his ability.

The 24-year-old has settled in West London is hoping to emulate the career of Australian international Schwarzer.

"It means the world to me," Stockdale told the club's official website. "Thankfully the club has rewarded me.

"It was great to be here in the first place and I'm settled here and have had the opportunity to show what I can do.

"The keepers here are great to learn from and there's a wonderful rapport, if I can do half of what Schwarzer and [Pascal] Zuberbuhler have done in their careers, it would be a great career to look back on.

"I'm working with the best here at Fulham and it was nice to get an opportunity in the Premier League against Everton earlier this season."
