Fulham midfielder Dickson Etuhu recalled to Super Eagles |
|
Fulham midfielder Dickson Etuhu has been recalled by Nigeria for this month's World Cup tie against Mozambique in Maputo after he was overlooked for over a year.
Officials confirmed that the combative midfielder has been included in a 22-man squad for the Group 2 World Cup qualifying tie against Mozambique on March 28.
Etuhu last played for the Super Eagles in the quarter-final of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations against Ghana in February.
The 26-year-old player made his full international debut against Mexico in a friendly in October 2007 under German coach Berti Vogts.
Etuhu was frozen out of the national team following the exit of Vogts early last year.
He has maintained that the former Germany international defender was a suitable coach for Nigeria despite the Eagles failure to go beyond the quarter-finals of the 2008 Nations Cup in Ghana.
Etuhu will now join the team in South Africa a week to the match in Maputo.
