Fulham midfielder Simon Davies is confident he will recover from his injury in time for the start of the season.
After recently undergoing ankle surgery, Simon Davies is planning to be fit and ready for Fulham's first game of the season.
"If everything goes to plan I'll be back for pre-season," the 29-year-old midfielder announced to the press. "Being cautious I might miss the first couple of weeks but, all being well, I will be fit and available for selection for the first game of the season."
The Wales international has been sidelined since April with his current injury, but Davies recognises that the problem could have been a lot worse if he had attempted to play through the pain barrier.
"The specialist said that if I'd carried on longer the bone could have cracked all the way through and it would have been five or six months out," he revealed.
Davies has been a consistent performer for Fulham since arriving at Craven Cottage from Everton in January 2007. He was even awarded Fulham's Player of the Year award in 2007-08. Under current manager Roy Hodgson, Davies helped Fulham to seventh place in the Premier League and, if all goes well in his rehabilitation over the summer, will doubtless play a major role for the Cottagers next season.
