Fulham have re-opened contract talks with Brede Hangeland in a bid to tie the defender's long-term future to Fulham.

The Norwegian centre-half is in the final 12 months of his current deal at Craven Cottage, but the club have begun negotiations to extend his stay in SW6.

Aaron Hughes agreed fresh terms last month and Martin Jol hopes Hangeland will join his defensive partner in committing his future.

When asked if there had been any developments, the Dutchman replied: "No. Talks are always ongoing - not every day - but we're talking with him and his management today."
