Fulham are in advanced talks to sign midfielder Derek Boateng in January, Goal.com can reveal.
Boateng and his representatives were at the west Londoners' Motspur Park headquarters on Wednesday to negotiate a deal to join in the forthcoming window.
The midfield anchorman is out of favour at Ukrainian club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, who are managed by former Tottenham boss Juande Ramos, and could be available for around £2 million.
The Ghana international, 29, was close to joining Fulham in the summer but the deal fell through on deadline day.
Martin Jol remains a big admirer of the power and energy of Boateng, who can also play at centre-back, and is keen to beef up his midfield after losing Mousa Dembele, Clint Dempsey, Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu in the summer.
Jol's plan is for Boateng to compete with Mahamadou Diarra, Steve Sidwell and Chris Baird for a central midfield role.
The much-travelled Boateng's previous clubs include Cologne and Getafe, while he is also a regular in the Ghana national team.
He signed a four-year contract when he joined Dnipro for around £4.8m in the summer of 2011 but Ramos is ready to sell the player, who is no longer a regular in the team.
