Fulham attacker Zoltan Gera is trying to stay positive following his side's defeat in the Europa League final on Wednesday.
The Cottagers went down 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in Hamburg after a remarkable run in Europe's second-tier competition.
Having already claimed the scalps of holders Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus, Wolfsburg and Hamburg, they could not quite get past the final hurdle as a brace from Diego Forlan broke Fulham hearts.
Gera admits it is tough to come to terms with, but is still proud of his team's fantastic run this year
"It's bad to be a loser, but we have to accept that we have been beaten," he told.
"Our team became more and more confident during our Europa League games. We defeated the UEFA Cup title-holders which was a great achievement right after the group stage.
"Then we beat big teams and I'm happy that I was part of the victories but I'm disappointed for our defeat in the final.
"We tried to console each other by saying that this is still a big success.
"I think no-one thought that Fulham would go so far in Europe. In my opinion we didn't put English football to shame.
"We can be proud of our performance on Wednesday as well as our season performance."
Hungary international Gera has been utilised as a supporting striker by manager Roy Hodgson this term, and says he is extremely happy at Craven Cottage.
"I feel great here at Fulham, I'm happy to play a new role, I'm almost a striker," he added.
"This is the place where I can play my best football and our manager explored it too.
"My aim is to keep my place in the team, play regularly and score goals. My season was good, I hope that the following one will be as good as like this."
