Albion captain Jonathan Greening is poised to complete his move to Fulham in a £4.5million deal.

The 30-year-old will move to Craven Cottage on an initial season-long loan, but the move will become permanent next summer after the club's finally agreed a fee this afternoon.

A move will be sealed within 24 hours, subject to Greening passing a medical with the London club.

Albion chairman Jeremy Peace admits the player's five years at the Hawthorns is at an end.

He said: "We have made strenuous efforts all summer to persuade Jonathan to sign a new long term contract. I fact held more talks with him as recently as this week.

"As always, Jonathan has been a model professional ever since Fulham first lodged their interest a month ago.

"We have stressed all along that we are not under any financial pressure to sell our best players and that no-one would leave unless it is on our terms.

"The board and coaching staff firmly believe this is the right deal for the club and we wish Jonathan all the best at Fulham."

The news ends a summer-long saga over Greening, with Fulham landing their man at the fourth attempt having had three previous bids rejected.

Fulham announced:
Jonathan Greening is set to join Fulham from West Brom on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move. The two clubs have agreed a deal on undisclosed terms and the move is now subject to Greening passing a medical.
