Fulham are set to be without skipper Brede Hangeland for three matches after he was sent-off in this afternoon's defeat to Sunderland.
The Whites were forced to play an hour with 10 men after the Norwegian was dismissed for a two-footed tackle on Lee Cattermole after he was sold short by Giorgos Karagounis.
Referee Lee Probert brandished a red card, but boss Martin Jol believes the decision was harsh on the centre-back, who was given his marching orders for the first time in a Fulham shirt.
However, the Dutchman confirmed the club won't appeal the decision, so Hangeland is expected to be ruled out of the clashes against Stoke, Chelsea and Spurs.
"He [Probert] was probably the only one in the stadium who really thought it was a red card," said Jol.
"He [Hangeland] was under the ball, not over the ball, so I don't think it was a red card.
"By the letter of the law it was a red card. But sometimes it would be nice if the referees could make the decisions in the spirit of the game."
