Fulham have announced that the Japanese international and Fulham midfielder Junichi Inamoto has extended his loan agreement for another year. Inamoto is on loan with The Cottagers from Japanese soccer outfit Gamba Osaka following a loan period at Arsenal.
With much being made of supposed player unrest at Fulham since Manager Jean Tigana left the club The Cottagers will be happy to have tied up an agreement with Inamota. The agreement has been made in the face of renewed interest from Chievo of Serie A in Italy. President Luca Campedelli and director Giovanni Sartori were reported to have contacted Osaka, although it is was not known whether the Verona-based side were plotting a loan deal or permanent swoop.
The Japanese star did well early in the season including scoring a hat-trick against Bologna to help the Londoners achieve their first European success when they picked up the Intertoto Cup in July 2002.
The Club's CEO Bruce Langham commented, "Ina has been a great asset to the squad this season and we are delighted that he has agreed to stay with us for a further year. He is dedicated and committed individual and we look forward to seeing many fine performances from him next season". Inamoto said "I am happy to stay in England in the Premiership, playing for Fulham Football Club. I have enjoyed my last season at the Club and I look forward to being part of the campaign next season."
