Jean Tigana is being linked with a move for Monaco defender Martin Djetou who is set to quit the French club in the summer

Djetou - set for Fulham

The 26-year-old Ivory Coast-born French international, 5'11" 12st, capped four times but who missed out on the final 1998 World Cup squad, wants to explore new challenges abroad and England is his likely destination.

"At 26, and having won two titles with Monaco, I feel it is time to move on and the end of the season will be the most appropriate time to do that," he said.

Djetou, who is very much part of French coach Roger Lemerre's future plans for the World champions, has been in contact with Arsenal's former Monaco coach Arsene Wenger, although the Gunners baulked earlier this month at paying £8m for him and could snap him up for nothing at the end of the campaign.

However, Djetou could also be a target for Tigana who guided Djetou onto the scene in the 1997 title-winning season during his spell with the French champions.
