Fulham manager Jean Tigana said Charlton 'keeper
Dean Kiely deserved a red card for his wild challenge on Louis Saha that
went unpunished during Sunday's 1-1 draw at The Valley.
Kiely caught Saha in the chest with his raised leg as the pair contested
a bouncing ball in the penalty area but escaped any punishment from referee
Jeff Winter.
"It was not only a penalty but a red card also," said Tigana. "I went to protest to the fourth official but he told me to sit down."
Saha himself said: "I was disappointed with the referee because I thought
it was a penalty. I was a little bit surprised about the decision because
when he didn't touch the ball and touched the player it's definitely a foul."
Kiely defended his challenge and said: "The way I look at it, it was a ball
to be won and we both went for it." |
