Fulham Manager Jean Tigana wants to stay at Fulham |
|
Fulham Manager Jean Tigana confirmed after the 2-2 draw with Southampton that he does want to take up a two-season extension option but that the long-awaited decision still on hold.
Tigana was asked about Chairman Al Fayed's recent comments that he would be happy if the coach did extend his contract.
"He also said that to me - but when I went to discuss it with chief executive Bruce Langham, he said it in a different way," Tigana said.
"I've sent three letters but I've never had an answer in writing. Yes, we've talked - but I sent letters.
"My contract finishes in June and I have to chose between Fulham and stopping.
"I don't want to leave. I don't want to go to another club but I don't know exactly what is happening."
Tigana also wants to clarify Chairman Al Fayed's precise goals for the club.
He said: "I'm relaxed. We've only started to build here, but where we are is fantastic for the club. Now we need to build long-term.
"We need a big squad for next year and another four or five very experienced players.
"I know we need experienced players but that depends on what happens now.
"It depends on our target for next year and whether the chairman wants to stay at the top level, or build the club over a long time."
