Fulham player-coach
John Collins attributed his side's continued 100% start to the season to their hard work on the training field.
Two goals from Barry Hayles and a third from Lee Clark gave the Cottagers their eighth consecutive win at the expense of Gillingham.
Collins said: "We have a belief and confidence but we still have to get the results
and it's the hard work we put in from Monday to Friday that sets it up.
"Today we scored at a good time, just before the interval. We have played
better than that because we were a bit slack in our passing in the first half.
"All credit to Gillingham, they played well but in the second half we were
more settled and the confidence was high because they had to come forward and
that opened it up for us. We just want to carry on in the same way for the rest
of the season."
Gillingham player-manager Andy Hessenthaler was full of praise for Fulham after his side was comfortably beaten.
"They are a very good side," he said. "The best we have played by far. We
just couldn't get near them.
"We didn't keep the ball as well as they did, they taught us a lesson today
and quite frankly I'm pleased it was only 3-0. They thoroughly deserved it,
their passing and movement was first class."
