Fulham boss Martin Jol reckons he is getting the best out of star striker Bobby Zamora.

The England frontman was left out of the squad for Saturday's defeat at Swansea, but is set to lead the line in tonight's Europa League showdown with Odense.

Zamora has managed just three league goals this season, and been linked with a £10million move away from CravenCottage after a reported fall-out with his manager.

But Jol insists he has no problem with the 30-year-old, and says he hopes Zamora will respond in the right way after missing the trip to Wales.

“I hope so,” he said. “Of course there will be players who want to play all the games, but I make the decisions.

“[Marcel] Gecov is a young player who I think needs time. He would like to play all the games but he's only played twice, so he won't be happy.

“I can't make them happy all the time because sometimes I need to play other players. Bobby plays almost 90 per cent of all the games and I think that helps him to get a good profile."

He added: “I feel we are on a good track [with Bobby] because if you look at his top season he scored eight goals, his first season he scored only two goals and he's scored three goals now.

“He's not somebody like Darren Bent. He will set up a lot of goals with his assists and over the last two months he's been fitter than before because last year he had a few injuries.”
