Fulham boss Martin Jol insists Bobby Zamora still has a future at Craven Cottage despite reports the frozen-out striker is wanted by Aston Villa.

Zamora was axed from the Fulham squad for the 2-0 defeat at Swansea this weekend and it is suggested the 30-year-old has an icy relationship with his manager.

Earlier in the season newspaper stories claimed that Jol and Zamora had been involved in a furious training ground bust-up, but the Fulham boss refutes reports that their relationship has broken down completely and claims he rested his striker with bigger games in mind.

"We've got an important game in Europe on Wednesday and Bryan Ruiz is not going to play and we have a few little injuries," Jol said. "Zamora is probably not the player who is the best substitute, so I thought I would wait for next week and the important games. I need all my players."
