Lee Clark being hunted by the Foxes

last updated Saturday 09th December 2000, 11:31 PM
A key member of the high-flying Fulham squad, former England Under-21 midfielder Lee Clark, being targeted by The Foxes.

Leicester manager Peter Taylor is determined to act quickly to replace Northern Ireland midfielder Neil Lennon, who has joined Celtic.

Leicester are ready to test Fulham's resolve to hold on to Clark. With Lennon having left in a deal worth £5.7m, Taylor is set to offer £3.5m for the former Sunderland and Newcastle star.

Craven Cottage boss Jean Tigana rates the midfielder highly and would insist on a fee in excess of £5m. But in truth, the French manager is determined to hold on to Clark.

The Newcastle-born player has impressed a number of managers, with Liverpool's Gerard Houllier known to have shown an interest. Newcastle are also known to have watched their former favourite.

Fulham will desperately try to keep the midfielder, but if they don't gain Premiership football for next season the likelihood is that Clark would leave.
