Lee Clark believes Fulham's 1-1 draw at Sheffield United answered
those who have questioned how the Londoners might perform once winter sets in.
The point at Bramall Lane extended Fulham's lead at the top of
the First Division to six points, and midfielder Clark insists his side are
ready to battle for their place in the Premiership.
He said: "People have said we cannot come to tough places on a
wet and windy night and compete with teams, but I think we showed that we can
battle - because Sheffield United are a strong side.
"I've seen stuff in certain areas of the media, especially at
the start of the season, saying 'What will happen in the winter months when
the pitches get heavy?'. "The conditions tonight were the wet Tuesday night
that everyone keeps telling me about, but I think we handled it. "Just because
we've got a foreign manager everyone seems to think that we're a soft foreign
touch - but that's not the case. If you speak to people who played with Jean
(Tigana) he could mix it - he could play but he could also mix it."
Clark is happy with the point which preserved his side's unbeaten
away record and added: "We come to win every game, but at the end of the day
that point has put us six points clear. "I think we started very well and in
the first 15 minutes we played some excellent stuff. But Sheffield United came
back into the game, and we gave away a sloppy goal from our point of view."
