Leon Andreasen’s underwhelming spell at Fulham is poised to come to an abrupt end following confirmation that the midfielder is to join Hannover.

The Denmark international was a £2 million signing from Werder Bremen last January but Andreasen has only started nine league games in the 12 months since.

Manager Roy Hodgson, who brought the player to Craven Cottage, has now confirmed that a return to the Bundesliga is looming for the 25-year-old.

"Leon Andreasen wants to go back to the Bundesliga for family reasons and we've had a good offer from Hannover,” said Hodgson.

"Letting him go is the right thing to do but it leaves a gap in the squad."

Fulham have gone some way to filling that gap by agreeing a loan move for Derby County midfielder Giles Barnes on Friday.
