Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton has taken Luis Boa Morte on trial at Fratton Park.
Boa Morte had been playing Major League Soccer, but the former Portuguese international is looking to earn a contract with the League One outfit.
The 35-year-old played for Arsenal, Fulham and West Ham United during a prolonged spell in the Premier League.
The former Fulham winger is a free agent following his release from South African side Orlando Pirates in May.
Having taken part in a match designed for free agents, the 34-year-old has admitted that he was keen to find himself a new club as soon as possible.
