Stuart Pearce, the City manager, has stated that a substantially improved offer, believed to be about £5m, has been submitted to Fulham.
"We've tabled a very substantial offer to Fulham," he told Sky Sports News. "A very fair offer.
"We're waiting on an answer from them basically.
"He's a player I respect a great deal and I think he'll benefit our club greatly.
"I would like to see him come and join us. The ball is in Fulham's court and basically we're waiting to hear from them.
"I think the offer we've put on the table is quite substantial and, if I was them, I'd take it."
It is claimed in the press that such an offer should be acceptable to Fulham and that the deal would then depend on Steed agreeing personal terms.
However there are also suggestions that the Frenchman will not be happy to leave London and therefore could play hard to get.
Fortunately, for Fulham fans, every cloud has a silver lining and it is thought that Fulham will only be prepared to sell one player this summer. If that is correct then Luis Boa Morte will be plying his trade at Craven Cottage for another season.
As they say stay tuned for further developments …….
