Fulham defender Andy Melville is being linked with a surprise move to his former club Oxford United as player-coach.

The Cottagers captain is hoping to earn a new contract at Loftus Road but has turned down Mohamed Al Fayed's opening offer and fears he may have to leave.

Melville's contract runs out at the end of the season and Oxford would love to take him back, as they look to cement their current position in the third automatic promotion spot in the Third Division.

However, a string of other clubs, including Portsmouth and Charlton, are also watching the situation closely.
